Acrylic: Comparing Mixing White and Titanium White

Hello, today we’re going to look at the difference between two of the three Professional Acrylic whites, Mixing White and Titanium White. I’m going to measure out approximately 5-parts of Mixing White and Titanium White to 1-part Phthalo Blue (Red Shade) to make the comparison as fair as possible. You will have noticed that the mass tone of the Titanium White and the Mixing White look the same and are made from the same pigment, however their tinting power is very different. Here’s the Mixing White with the blue which I’m working together with a palette knife. You’ll notice that the white brightens the Phthalo Blue and maintains the colour saturation, Mixing White is good for subtly tinting colour. The Titanium White lightens, pastelizes and mutes the colour. Titanium White is the more opaque of the two and is good for covering and producing opaque grounds. I hope you’ve enjoyed this video.
